چکیده
The report titled, “Technical Note 1834: Development of a Test Method to Determine Carbon Monoxide Emission Rates from Portable Generators,” presents a test method developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for determining carbon monoxide (CO) emission rates from portable generators while operating in an enclosed space. NIST developed the test method under an interagency agreement with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC, the Commission) in support of CPSC staff’s development of a proposed mandatory performance standard to address the CO poisoning hazard associated with the use of portable generators. 2,3

An Experimental Investigation of Enclosure’s Effect on Noise Reduction in Portable Generators (Technical Note)
The portable generators are the main means of compensating the shortage of national electricity power as in Iraq. However, their noise causes a huge disturbance, uncomforting and loss of concentration of the nearby resident. This problem requires a solution because most shops and residential houses use generators. Covering method is a simple and relatively low cost one for reduction of generato...

Due to the extensive use of composites in various industries and the fact that defects reduce ultimate strength and efficiency during operation, detection of failures in composite parts is very important. The aim of this paper is to use Acoustic Emission (AE) non-destructive method in four-point bending test of carbon/epoxy composite to analyze and examine the failure mechanisms. This method is...
متن کاملIn-Plume Emission Test Stand 2: emission factors for 10- to 100-kW U.S. military generators.
Although emissions of air pollutants from some military tactical equipment are not subject to the emissions standards, local communities near military bases must conform to the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. Military diesel generators are widely used in training. A portable in-plume system was used to measure fuel-based emission factors (EFs) for particulate matter (PM), carbon monoxid...
متن کاملA Fire Department Community Health Intervention to Prevent Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Following a Hurricane
Portable generators are commonly used during electrical service interruptions that occur following large storms such as hurricanes. Nearly all portable generators use carbon based fuels and produce deadly carbon monoxide gas. Despite universal warnings to operate these generators outside only, the improper placement of generators makes these devices the leading cause of engine related carbon mo...
متن کاملCarbon Monoxide Poisoning from Portable Electrical Generators.
BACKGROUND Portable electrical generators have been responsible for over 800 accidental carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning deaths in the United States from 1999-2012. OBJECTIVES Because mortality figures are typically the only data reported with regard to the adverse effects of generators, we describe a nonfatal segment of the poisoned population to further emphasize the significance of the probl...
